Patient Responsibilities
Patients have responsibilities to healthcare personnel, other patients and the organisation as follows:
- Treat other patients and healthcare personnel with respect, courtesy and consideration, this includes respect for their culture, values and beliefs, as well as their personal privacy.
- For your benefit, complete your admission documentation as accurately as you can, provide all necessary information regarding your past medical/surgical history, current medications, allergies and any special needs to ensure safe and optimal treatment and care.
- Be actively involved in your own healthcare, participate in planning your care with healthcare personnel to meet your specific needs and inform healthcare personnel of any changes to your health. Please ensure that you have planned your own support at home (as required) and discussed any discharge concerns you may have prior to leaving the hospital.
- Follow any organisational policies as instructed by staff, particularly those relating to security, privacy and confidentiality.
- Treat Boulcott Hospital facilities and equipment with care to assist in retaining a pleasant, healthy and safe environment.
- Observe Boulcott Hospital’s no smoking policy.
- Follow the instructions of staff in an emergency situation.
- Encourage your family and friends to comply with the visiting hours, the no smoking policy, to treat other patients and healthcare personnel with respect, courtesy and consideration, and follow any instructions from healthcare personnel as appropriate.
- Ensure payment of your account after discharge, or pre-payment as required.
