Payment/ACC

Payment is required on discharge from the Hospital. Cheques, EFTPOS and all major credit cards are accepted, subject to the normal clearance procedures.

If you have medical insurance, you are advised to contact your insurers prior to admission to check what proportion of the total costs will be covered by your policy. Shortfalls can be significant.

Most insurers will allow you to forward the Hospital’s account direct to them for payment instead of paying it yourself and then claiming reimbursement.

This requires the prior consent of the insurer who will provide you with a letter confirming consent, which must be brought to the Hospital. It should be presented at Reception when you are admitted.

You will generally receive advice from your insurer within two to three weeks that payment has been made. Your cheque covering any shortfall, should be mailed immediately to:
Boulcott Hospital, PO Box 31 459, Lower Hutt 5040.

ACC sometimes authorises treatment in a private hospital. If so, you will have been given an official letter of approval. You should note that ACC funding may only cover part of the hospital’s costs and that a deposit of the balance is payable by you on admission.

Please ring the Hospital in advance if you anticipate problems in making payment.
